Brigid Burke

Scholar, Author, and Podcast Host

Chthonia is the platform that brings together my scholarly and spiritual interests. I have an undergraduate degree in English Literature and Religious Studies, as well as Masters degrees in Library Science and Religious Studies (Psychology concentration), and a Doctorate in Literary Studies. My dissertation focused on the way in which our views of the afterlife affect our views of the Feminine; this became the basis of my book Death and the Maiden: the Curious Relationship Between the Fear of the Feminine and the Fear of Death published in 2019, as well as the basis of the Chthonia podcast.

Spiritually I have had a long journey from Catholicism, to Wicca, to Esoteric initiations, to Sri Vidya Tantra. I consider myself the "vehicle" for my two main guides, the Irish goddess Morrigan and the Archangel Azrael. My goal with Chthonia is to focus on the aspects of the archetypal Feminine that have been "in shadow" and largely maligned and misunderstood in our culture.
